Free your body from painful Trigger Points and feel functional and healthy again

Do you suffer from persistent pain in a specific part of your body, which limits your mobility? Does the strain on specific muscles due to work prevent you from working productively? Has performing daily tasks become unbearable and painful?

With Trigger Points treatment, you will effectively treat the persistent injuries that are bothering you and you will enjoy your daily life again.

What are Trigger Points?

Trigger Points are irritable points of permanent muscle contraction on a muscle, which when compressed cause intense discomfort. They resemble small nodules ̶ the well-known "lumps" ̶ that most people have felt on a muscle in their body from time to time.

In reality, these are neither knots nor lumps, but rather micro-spasms that appear in the weakest points of the muscle and locally limit its blood supply, resulting in the point becoming more sensitive, causing a vicious cycle of neurological "seizures".

  • Their main characteristic is the feeling of pain not only at the point of compression but also its reflection in other parts of the body.

How are they created?

Muscle or connective tissue damage can be caused by either a single incident or a combination of factors:

  • Repetitive poor posture (at work, while sleeping)
  • Lack of exercise & generally poor physical condition of the body
  • Injury from a blow (contusion, fracture, break) or from excessive muscle strain
  • Injury due to sports injuries or a traffic accident
  • Sudden weight lifting or long-term weight lifting in everyday life
  • Age
  • Intense emotional stress, chronic stress or depression

How are they triggered?

Pain Trigger Points are characterized as active or inactive.

  • Trigger points are activated immediately after a muscle injury, poor posture, overuse of a muscle group, or after an accident. When Trigger Points are active, pain is observed even at rest, while palpation is painful.
  • Inactive are Signs that were created by various etiologies (their origin cannot always be determined), however they are asymptomatic and are only triggered if there is a triggering factor, e.g. a new injury.

How does Trigger Point treatment work?

When treating Trigger Points, the core of the pain must be located. It is very likely that the pain radiates to another part of the body, so an accurate mapping of the patient's body must be done. The goal of the treatment is to improve local blood circulation, stretch and restore muscle length, and release the fascia of the area.

There are many therapeutic techniques, such as the use of lasers or shock waves, however two are the most prevalent approaches.

  • Ischemic pressure: We use the index finger and thumb to apply pressure to specific points for 30-40 seconds, in order to block blood flow. We then release the pressure so that blood circulation is forcibly restored and hyperemia is created in the area. The degree of intensity depends on the patient's tolerance. Usually the technique is repeated 4-5 times per session.
  • Dry Needling Method: This is a more invasive technique in which a flexible acupuncture needle is inserted into the precise Trigger Point, with the aim of mechanically causing muscle release, relaxing the deeper tissue structure, significantly improving movement and relieving pain.

Goals of Trigger Point Treatment

Trigger Point Therapy offers the patient:

  • Relief from pain and discomfort.
  • Increased range of motion and flexibility.
  • Improved circulation, faster healing and reduced inflammation.
  • Stress reduction, promoting overall health and well-being.

Symptoms of Trigger Points
